Our Facebook group now has over 4000 members

The Pirate Party's Facebook group now has over 4000 members -- as I write the total is 4050.

Incidently the biggest political parties on Facebook are the BNP (6639 members) and the Labour Party (6265 members). Pirate Party UK has only been in existance for less than a month, and already we are more than half-way to surpassing them!

If you haven't already joined Pirate Party UK's facebook group, do so now (you don't need to be a party member to join). And tell all your friends to.

The BNP have 35'000 youtube members. They dont use Facebook tbh. On the flipside, the ANTI BNP have 650'000 members. The BNP have almost DOUBLED in size since they started using YouTube. I appreciate that FaceBook is "cooler", but in terms of politics, its the unknown brother of Ytube in every single aspect i can think of. Our Ytube needs content. There is a far bigger market of potential pirates on YT than any other website on the net, by a considerable margin. I do realise the current PPUK members are AntiYoutube for a variety of reasons, but i cant figure out why no-one is pushing the PPUKs YT as the number one site to draw new supporters in. I can think of 10 accounts with over 1 million channel views that stand against DMCA claims, and maybe 5000 or so that have p2p friendly "uses". youtube, however boring & full of stupid comments, is a free advent if we harness it properly.

Are we? I wasn’t aware of anyone against YouTube as such, and I think it’s important that we have a channel there as well.

We do have a channel there, i think simba is referring to the fact that youtube folds under pressure and removes copyright audio and video as soon as it is reported.

That would be logical.

To compare PPUK to the BNP or Labour Party is self defeating. To be concerned with Facebook or YouTube subscription numbers is bordering on fetishism. Our message will prevail, and our sails unfurl right here. Shine.

“To be concerned with Facebook subscription numbers is bordering on fetishism”

No it’s not, it’s an indication of our popularity among Facebook subscribers. And the reason I compared us with those other parties is simply becaue they’re the biggest on Facebook, and therefore the ones we want to beat. We currently have 4207 supporters on Facebook, suggesting that we get about 75 new every day; at which rate we’ll surpass Labour in 27 days.
