Panorama programme on disconnecting filesharers
14th March 2010 00:05 | by Philip Hunt
Tomorrow (Monday) Panorama will be covering the government's plans to disconnect the internet connections of alleged filesharers. Here's the blurb:
A proposed new law is threatening to disconnect the millions of internet users who unlawfully download free music, films and TV. Jo Whiley looks at how broadband use at home may never be the same, and could even be cut off.
So that's Panorama, BBC1, at 8:30 pm, on Monday 15th March.

I just caught half of this did anyone from the party get on? It was more balanced than I thought it would be to be honest...

Nope. Nothing from us, ORG or Coadec, or any serving politician opposed to the bill. The Featured Artists Coalition got a couple of minutes. On the whole I felt that it was slightly bias towards pro-DEB in terms of volume of material, and that the anti-DEB views were usually presented either as fringe opinions or as borderline-criminal.

Crap we should have been on it. I only got the last half so I saw the bits with the FAC. I thought it was going to be a lot worse. Missed a big op for some good publicity not being on it.

It was alway going to be biased in the industries favour, as the bbc (bbc worldwide and 2 entertain) are also a producers and distributers of products allegedly suffering as a result of filesharing.

I caught it. Not as tilted to the govt's side as most similar programs, although I did rage at the technical errors.

Also if someone sent me a letter accusing me of downloading scooter, i would have to send one back accusing them of slander!

I thought the views shown were fairly balanced. The DEB on the other hand is outrageous. I only hope a few viewers of this show have been enlightened and write to their MP consequently.
