Voting Now Open In Leadership Election

11th September 2010 18:09 | by Andrew Tindall

Voting to elect the new leader of the party has begun, and will conclude 26th September 2010 10:00.

The vote will be carried out using the OpenSTV software, and as this is an election for a single specific position which can have only one winner the count will be carried out using the Alternative Vote system. The option to re-open nominations will be counted or eliminated in the same way as the actual candidates.

You may select candidates in order of preference rank; 1=1st choice, 2=2nd choice, etc, for as many as you wish to express a preference for. The order you rank candidates must be in sequence, and you may also express a preference for re-opening of nominations.

The two candidates are Peter Brett and Loz Kaye. On Wednesday 8th September the candidates took part in a live debate, the audio of which can now be found here: http://pirate.futureoftheinternet.co.uk/?p=21

Yorkshire & Humberside members are also able to vote for their RAO, with voting ending on the 18th September.

FYI I voted. :)

Voter apathy FTL! Any bets on turnout? We've been emailing the members quite a lot recently so I hope for something good.
