my name is mr joe.

i hope this message finds you well.

i am disappointed to see that there is no RAO in wales and as cardiff would be a particularly easy seat to take and as this is my hometown, i hereby offer my services for use in this respect or in any other reasonable way that i may be of service. i am glad to find out about the pirate party. i don't know anyone else who knows about it other than the friends of mine who i have just informed. i heard about the pirate party through a friend in hannover.

cardiff seems ripe for the picking. where are the welsh pirates??

i would like to see more definition of our international policy.

sincerely

Hi Mr Joe.

The party decided to disband RAOs on the 21st of November
with a large majority. We're not really large enough to need that role at this time. I apologise that we have no candidate currently running in Cardiff, and that it is now too late (I believe) to register one for the upcoming election, but in future elections we would be willing to consider offers to stand as candidates from members. In such a case, it's probably a good idea to get in touch with our Campaigns Team or the Nominations Officer to declare your interest.

As for international policy, we have a policy review underway that was started at the end of last year. Unfortunately the process has stalled somewhat due to time needed to invest in other things that came up, but the aim now is to have our new policies prepared in time for the PPUK Conference on the 15th of September.

Hi, I'm Tony (small local business, pc repairs etc.), from West Yorkshire, just joined as I believe the world needs a new voice for the 21st century, especially in the arena of copyright reformation and the tear-down of repressive regimes. I'm kind'a hoping the PP is the start of that sea change.

Hi Tony,

I hope you're right about us being the sea change. We firmly believe that it's time politicians woke up to the reality of the 21st century rather than continue propping up the juggernaut industry leviathans of the past century. If the past can't find a way to coexist peacefully with the present, it's the past that should make way not the other way around.

Hello, I'm 32, been in I.T. for about 10 years, I've been following torrentfreak for many of those years and keep up with the development of the pirateparty movements across the globe. I just wanted to express gratitude for all your efforts supporting our freedoms. Now that the UK has started ISP level filters of thepiratebay we can be sure many other legitimate sites will follow, along with our right to speak out against such desecration of liberties. Shout out to Julian Assange, keep sharing the love :)

p.s. thanks, it took all of 3 seconds to find the pirate proxy site you are hosting, and life goes on regardless.

I'm Ollie, 21 year old Freelance Web Developer/Student.

The culture that seems to exist today is one where big corporations get to dictate what is and isn't right, and can force their point by throwing money at it until their opponents submit.

These companies don't want to figure out new business models and would much rather hold the world back to keep their pockets filled with a minimum of effort on their part - that's not right.

We're arriving at a fork in the road where governments and companies can accept that the world has changed since laws and business plans were drawn up and they need to catch up, or the rights of citizens are impaired and technologies that we could use to excel and push us forward are restricted and tampered with to the point of being practically worthless to the general public.

We need to fight this in any way we can.

Hi Ollie,

Nice of you to join us. The sad truth is that the corporations 'think' they control the collective culture but they don't, the artists do. Unfortunately, most artists that want to make a living doing what they love have to play by the corporations' rules to get anywhere. By doing this the corporations become an insanely efficient lobbying body that can promote its own interests (as opposed to those of the artist themselves). Because most people in government still think money is important, they tend to like what people who give them money and expensive lunches on luxury yachts in the Mediterranean have to say.

Hello all,

Pretty much thinking about joining as an experiment. I've generally kept apart from mainstream politics because (in very simplistic terms) I don't think that any small party has a chance to succeed, and the whole system is so rigged as to make any involvement with it pointless. I don't know whether reneging on this belief and joining a political party is a good idea, but I might be willing to have a go - let's see how I feel after reading a few of the threads on here. Looking forward to it!

I'm from Birmingham - I don't suppose there are any meetings or local events happening in this fair city are there? Where would I go to find out about them if there were?

Hi Sestren,

Nice to have you with us. I understand your reservations about non-mainstream parties, it was one of the reasons (other than lack of money) that meant it took me about a year or two to actually join the Pirate Party after it formed.

Feel free to post in the England regional forum to try and sort out meetups for Birmingham. Also keep an eye on the events forum to see if anything's happening in your area.

Hello! I've been a Pirate for a few months now, but only just saw the 'Introduce yourself' thread..
I'm Emil, 17, from Worcester studying for my AS Levels. I've been interested in politics for a quite a bit but have never given my support to any particular party until now: the main ones are simply too similar to one another with no one offering real change. I feel the Pirate Party offers something different, something exciting, and something to really get behind. I'm supportive of any initiative for furthering freedom of speech, but what most interested me were the Pirate's policies on medical patents.
I'm looking forward to getting involved, and was pleased to see Loz Kaye do well the other day. Hopefully we could get some Pirates together in Worcester every now and then to get something going..
Cheers :)

Hi Emil,
It's great to have you with us. I don't really know how many pirates we have in the Worcester area, but one thing I could easily recommend is meeting up with like-minded people and communicating, building a network of local pirates. You don't know when that network will come in handy. If one of you eventually decide you want to stand in local elections that's even better!

Hi Everyone,
I'm a doddering ole git based in Newark, Notts but travelling around Europe in Myfanwy, my motorhome.. Anywhere warm and sunny will do, it beats paying UK heating bills!! Trained as a nurse, served as a soldier, spent 25 years as an I.T. engineer for ICL (Gawd 'elp us all!), now retired... Seriously concerned about encroaching censorship and intrusion of privacy... How long before we start burning books and dragging people out to beat them up because we don't like their choices? OK, a bit of an exaggeration maybe, but you know what I mean!

If we suppress the free flow of ideas and information we are going backwards. The internet is the greatest tool for freedom and education that has ever been invented, but it could very easily be usurped and used as a weapon of suppression and control!

We must not let this happen!

Thats why I am so pleased to have found the PP, joined it immediately and will support as much as I can!

Meanwhile, I would ask everyone, please resist even the tiniest degree of censorship and control, all day, every day, everywhere..

Give them an inch and they'll take over your life!!

Welcome MisterBadger,

I wish I could agree with your comment about exaggeration, but we already see this happening in other countries and I personally am concerned that this could happen here if we don't continue to make a stand now. The ongoing erosion of our rights, including freedom of speech, is the core reason I joined the party.

There are a number of ways to help out and support us, just take a look at some of the recent posts here on the forums for ideas. However, the easiest thing you can do is start telling people about us :)

Hello everyone I'm Charlie I live in South Ockendon Essex but was born and raised in New Jersey (USA) I have been living in England now for about 4.5 years and have always been into the inner workings of government. At the moment I'm only a legal resident of the country (as I lack the funds to have this changed right now) but hope to be getting this changed in the next few months. I work for Bskyb and I'm also a member of the C.W.U and have been actively working with them to get the company unionized.. That being said I do find it hard to follow all the union requires of its member (the voting labor) and once I'm able to vote will be looking for an alternative political party to support. See as I tend to agree with most of what I been reading on this site I feel this might be the party that gets my vote.. Well I look forward to speaking with all of you soon.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Sam Clark, 19, I am currently studying Electronic Engineering at Sheffield Hallam. I also run an IT/general technology consultancy and applications design business ( Creative Resolution Networks), that I have setup from scratch, in Sheffield. I am always happy to volunteer my services for the good of the party!

I'm currently living in Sheffield.

I feel that current politics aren't keeping up with the current state of technology, and I think now is the best time for us to stand up!

Hi Sam,

I'll poke our campaigns officer in your direction soon as he's in your area :) We're currently increasing our activity in Sheffield, so I'd hope there would be plenty for you to get involved in!
