Hi Tuoni,

I currently live in East London, but don't have a problem travelling South...

OK, I will look at trying to properly organise something with some advance notice. The last few times have petered out, let's see what I can do this time :)

If I may ask, please drop me or a text the day before, because I'm prone to forgetting about these kinds of things.

I joined the PP about three weeks ago. Currently located in London working in Technology PR. Very keen to meet with the fellow London members and get to know everyone in person.

Hello!
Joined up a week ago. This is the first political party I have been motivated to actually join. Used to be a Lib Dem follower until the current governments behaviour. I flapped around loose for a while and then found PPUK. Thank you PPUK for being a party I can get behind and support :D
I'm a software developer and IT tech guy in Swindon. Its a shame there is no candidate in my area I can vote for :(

Do paying members get a little card to carry around with them?

Once we have all your biometric data, a DNA sample, and your 5 most embarrassing secrets we will enter them into a publicly-accessible database and issue you with your membership card. Failure to be in possession of your membership card at any time will result in your immediate (no trial, no appeal) execution.

More seriously, I think there may be plans afoot which if they come to fruition will provide members with a membership card.

Sounds like standard operating procedure for signing up to most things nowadays.

That will be cool. Then we can be full card-carrying members :D

I'm Alex from Nottingham. I'm 15 years old, yes this does sound young, but not too young to have your own views that you as a person believe, not views thrown at you by the government censorship teams.
I'm massively interested in politics, however I wouldn't consider persueing a career in politics, as it would lead to corruption. Which goes onto what my personal beliefs are. I'm starting in Year 11 soon, and I've been watching closely on politics, mainly the economic side of things because the future economy seems bleak. I stumbled upon the Corrupt Banks of the United Kingdom, their tax avoiding schemes, their money embezzlement and such. I was shocked that a modern "democracy" could condone such a thing. But, corruption consumes all, everyone will be corrupt at some point in their life, but some more than others. Corruption is my worst enemy.

I'm Jonathan, 19. I'm from Liverpool but currently study Medicine at Manchester. I want to get involved as I feel strongly that Copyright laws need reforming, including patents run by the global monopolies that run the pharmaceutical industry. The NHS is getting ripped off by those corporations, while we're (well, some of us anyway) are getting ripped off by the Music and Film industry. Personally I'm not a fan of new music anyway, I prefer the older stuff (50s and 60s) where artists actually wrote the songs themselves and had talent. The idea of forking over most of the price of a CD to 'music engineers' who heavily manipulate a song isn't right in my mind. That's my two cents, anyhoo.

Hi Johnathan.

If you'd like to get involved it might be worth contacting campaigns@pirateparty.org.uk to see what assistance they might need in Manchester, as Loz Kaye is standing as the Party Candidate for Manchester.

Okay, if you've noticed, I've been a member of the Pirate Party (at least, the forum) for a while. During this time, I've progressed through and beyond my undergraduate degree and now, I'm working outside of London.

I'm Mike; I was living in South Wales studying Computer Science. I suppose, I wasn't really a leader and, as such, I didn't have the strength on my own to begin to look in to starting my own PPUK group; for one, I had no access to any preexisting members with their experience to guide me. But I'm now, as aformentioned, north of London. I would certainly be happy to engage with the community in this part of the world, as I understand London is quite a big and influential place (or so I've heard ;) ).

Can someone tell me what, as an effectively new member, I should be doing in order to get involved in the party in this part of the world. Who knows, if I do end up going back to South Wales, I could take what I've learned with me to expand my influence under the electorate who are under the increasingly devolved Assembly Government.

Tha-anks! :)

Hi Mike,

First of all you can get involved no matter where you are by contacting campaigns@pirateparty.org.uk and volunteering any and all of your skills, time, etc :D there's a lot volunteers can do online no mater where you are.

As for London-centric activities check out the thread for organising an August meet-up http://www.pirateparty.org.uk/forum/vie ... =83&t=4317
Meetings generally tend to be social, but are great to get to know each other, so we can build up trust and understanding and all those other social connections which will be invaluable when it comes time for us to help each other campaign etc.

Hey all.

I'm Maz, 33 and living in Sheffield. Long term dissatisfaction with state of UK politics and a Newsnight special on the German Pirate Party led me here.

Would like to volunteer for helping out with shizzle.

Hi Maz,

We have some incredibly active members in Sheffield - if you want to get involved, give Campaigns an email and you should get a pretty swift response.

Do you have an iplayer link to that newsnight special?

oooh, if you saw the car-crash of a barely ticking 'computer' i'm currently using... i-player? i-wish. My poor little beast struggles with colour adverts.

I tried a google, which says there was a special on the Swedish lot in 2009 but the piece I saw was deffo from the German elections. It was about 2 years ago now though, sorry.
