Thanks gazhay.

We need more people in N. Ireland to establish a party over there. Any chance of recruiting some mates?

A few more people for a start! But seriously, the NI party needs people to fill the equivalent legal roles to the ones being done for this 'UK' party. In a perfect world, there would be competition for the posts and an election. In this world, just having willing volunteers for all the jobs would be great.

Not to many replies on here yet, but I'm always happy to help ;-)

I found the party through a BBC news article I saw today, ideally some simple advertising particularly around Universities might help generate more interest and volunteers.

I'm a History/politics student so getting involved seems like good idea xD

it's as above, only none of the above seem to be active now as far as I know.

we need volunteers to be NI Leader, Treasurer, Campaigns Officer, and Nominating Officer.

The most important thing to do is to find like-minded people and build up a network of party members in Northern Ireland. As you can see from the Northern Ireland wiki page, we have many active members there at the moment!

There's also a vacancy for a Regional Administrative Officer in NI, which you might be interested in applying for.

Would you be interested in standing in some elections in NI?

graeme, before standing the party would need to register for elections, find an N. Ire NEC, etc. I don't think that would be feasible for the coming elections.

I'm not very active here as there isn't much going on here.

Being from Aberdeen I know more people in Scotland than NI so have been keeping an eye on developments there.

I am still willing to volunteer here and get stuck in, i have enquired a few times privately with party officials, eapecially about the exact steps to register the party over here, the requirements and coat, but haven't got much response.

The idea of standing as an independent pirate is probably most feasible time wise but financially could be costly.

Trying to break through such entrenched political landscape is probably going to be very difficult too. I think party resources would be better concentrating on Scotland and Wales in 2011.

Just my 2p

I'm also not sure if we'd be able to financially support you standing as an independent...

I would agree with your last statement too.

I am not clued up on the procedures and law relating to NI elections, so probably best to ask someone who is. I will try and raise it in this week's NEC meeting, which was postponed last night.

It's tricky in regard to NI party activity, and not well understood by any of us except that specific requirements apply.

As things stand, NI residents are welcome to join PPUK as members, however may need to rejoin a future NI party if necessary, and we do not presently well understand what is required to operate as a political party in Northern Ireland, or what we can or cannot do, so resulting in hesitancy to say yes or no to anything.

First job for NI activists with Pirate sympathies... Figure out what PPUK can do / cannot do, to help you, and tell us / provide details, and if necessary it may be that you need to set up a specific NI party organisation to make this possible.
