Items for the membership pack

Postby PeterBrett » Mon Jul 26, 2010 9:00 pm

I'm putting together the PPUK membership pack! Please suggest items to go in the pack in this thread. The constraints are that the total cost of the postage, packing and contents must not exceed £2.00, and prices must be based on a quantity of 1000.

At the moment, my ideas run thusly:

  1. Assume Royal Mail large letter format, 2nd class postage. That means max. 353mm x 250 mm x 25 mm, less than 250 g total weight, and costs £0.81.
  2. Assume a C5 envelope, which means 162 mm × 229 mm, cost £0.10, weight 5g.
  3. Assume 4 A4 sheets of information on the Pirate Party in general and on what's going on in the local area, for a total of £0.20 and 20g.

That leaves a mass budget of 215 g and a monetary budget of £0.90 for other stuff.

Ideas so far include:
  • Membership card (no quotes so far)
  • Silicone wristbands (from £0.30)
  • Stickers (n.b. need to be individually cut, not on sheets) (from £0.20)
  • Ball-point pens (anything from £0.20 upwards)

Please leave suggestions and designs in this thread (preferably with quotes and proposed designs)!

Seconded.

Also suggest turquoise eyepatch (found for as low as 50p, expect bulk to be cheaper but custom colour may be pricey).

membership cards personalised, £30 set up fee, £1 for each after here: (bottom of page)http://www.e-plasticcard.co.uk/plastic_card.htm
Lots of other sites seem to do it too, probably for cheaper (this was the first hit).

I noted from that website that we could do 1,000 non-personalised cards for about £0.30 each.

Check this out -- it's awesome! It's a branded key chain that is also a flashlight, comes in tin box.
Unfortunately, it's at £1.11 a piece, which may be stretching it a bit.

Oops. Correction. That's $1.11!! £0.71, but from US.

Unfortunately the budget has already been decided for this year's membership pack. ;)

If I may ask, who is the membership pack meant for?
Will it be sent out to all the existing members, or is it like a "pirate starter pack" to attract new members?

If it's the first case, I certainly wouldn't say I mind the freebie, but I'd prefer that £2 was better spent...

I would think it's the latter.

It will be sent out to any member who subscribes or renews their subscription.

The intention is to appeal not to the hardcore forum gang (hi guys :D ) but to the more casual party members, as part of an Evil Master Plan to get them to feel more involved and appreciated as members.
