Next Scottish meetup: Edinburgh Wed 22nd September

Postby cabalamat » Tue Sep 14, 2010 9:47 pm

The next Scottish Pirate meetup will be on Wed 22 September, from 7:00pm onwards, at (note change of venue due to expected large numbers) the Standing Order, 62-66 George St, Edinburgh.

I think we should have a formal agenda for this one, because time is pressing for the Scottish parliamentary election in May 2011.

If anyone needs to contact me by phone, my number is 07930 631730.

(I'm assuming Andy P is aware and okay with these arrangements ;-) )

I spoke to him last week and he asked me to arrange the next meeting in Edinburgh, so I'd be very surprised if he's not happy with it.

I propose as an agenda for this:

1. lessons learned from the Liberton/Gilmerton by-election

2. preparations for the Scottish parliamentary election 2011

2.1. selection of candidates

2.2. manifesto / policies

2.3. literature / leaflets etc -- contents, printing, delivery by post office

2.4. Party political broadcast (if we get one -- if not, there's always YouTube)

2.5. timescales for the above being done (we don't want to leave it too late and rush around at the last minute)

anything else we should add?

With my Campaigns Officer hat on, I would really really appreciate it if you could produce some sort of list of goalposts for everything that needs to get done before the election.

Maybe have a brainstorming session -- anything that anyone thinks should happen should appear on the list, and that'll give us a good starting point for working out a campaign plan.

It's better and easier to choose not to do something than to realise, too late, that there was something you should have done but didn't think of. ;)
