This forum is for the development of policies that are in the manifesto but do not fall under a stated core policy area
See the topic About this forum for more information. Discussion in this forum contributes to party policy, and is summarised on the wiki in the Policy Discussion Workspace. Votes on policy are currently done on a semi-formal basis.
Be constructive
Try to make sure each post you make adds to the discussion. Aim to persuade others. Don't repeat the same argument over and over, instead try to present or apply it in a different way, or even better, come up with a new argument!
Criticism is important
Criticisms helps refine and prepare defences for our policies. Address them where you can, and concede the point if you cannot.
Make your topics informative and specific
A topic such as "NHS" is not good: it does not explain what your post is actually about and it's too general for anyone to guess. Whereas topics like "NHS to be part-privatised?" or "NHS should supply all available cancer drugs" are much better.
Personal attacks are not allowed
Attack the argument, not the arguer. Repeat offenders will end up banned.
Avoid duplicate topics
Look in the Policy Discussion Workspace before posting a new topic to make sure we don't repeat ourselves.
Stay on-topic
Want to head in a different direction? Make a new topic. Completely derailed topics will be split -- this can make both threads confusing, so don't let it get to that point.
I will be moderately green
In the interest of neutrality, when I post as a moderator enforcing the rules rather than as a member participating in policy discussion, I will post in green text and separately to any other posts I make.
