AZ001 - 4.5 Membership -> disciplinary committee

Postby azrael » Wed Aug 25, 2010 12:58 am

Affects 4.5

Change

Code: Select all
the NEC or a designated sub-committee to explain their actions

to

Code: Select all
a disciplinary committee formed by the Board of Governors as per the arbitration and disciplinary rules of Section 11.

Places party governance into hands of the Board freeing up the NEC for administrative/political direction. Clearly indicates where all disciplinary rules are (section 11 which doesn't exist yet).

Remove

Code: Select all
Their party membership may be suspended or removed by said committee.

Either list all potential punishments or none. Latter much easier so this removes a potential ‘punishment’ so that Section 11 can be the sole place for such things.

Support, provided the section 11 stuff is there - perhaps make it more specific once the relevant stuff is in.

Supported, Section 11 will need a lot of discussion and almost certainly an open consultation period while it's drafted.

I would table that this proposal be put on hold until such time as section 11 exists in the constitution or otherwise be tables as part of the proposal for introducing section 11 mentioned here here
