Discuss and suggest ideas for the web-related aspects of the Pirate Party

Forum TOS

Forum TOS (Terms of Service), or guidelines are needed on any forum, without such, then how can posts be moderated?

I was recently in a PM discussion concerning a removed thread. I had no particularly interest in that thread, but noticed it missing, so asked.

I do not believe that any post/thread should simply be removed because, well, because of what? There must be some transparency, some tolerance, some, well, at least a known reason for a deleted posts/thread. Without a TOS, there are no guidelines, no policy. Should I expect one of my posts to be removed because of a party members dislike of such post? or that the replies to my post then cause problems, then all (the thread) should be removed?

Please think and consider this.

Regards,

- Steve

Moved to web discussion

As we've already discussed, I hadn't made my moderation best practice clear at the time of the incident you're discussing, whilst things were not ideal, nothing is going to be retracted in this case.

A TOS will likely be drawn up at a later stage, in response to future incidents. However the membership system mostly means that people moderate their own actions on the forums and thus things are self-regulating in the most part.

Your moderation practice was not made clear, in fact quite the opposite.

Nothing in this world is clear, certainly from various secret policy. Should this be the case here?

To his credit, borgs has always endeavoured to have as much transparency as is possible, and this is something he has encouraged the moderators, including myself, to do.
