Exeter Council Elections

Ok, so as I've just seen, Exeter has not yet had their council elections at all (For those who are unaware, they were supposed to happen at the same time as the General Election but were completely cancelled) and there seems to be some problems over when these will take place due to the abandoment of government plans to turn it into an Independant Unitary Authority (I heard that they wanted to do it next May but I'm don't think it's been decided), so, two questions

1: Does anyone know anymore about this situation?

2: Do we have any Pirates living in the area that would be willing to contest the elections when they do go through?

It would be great if we could contest these once that situation is resolved, we could finally start to see some proper activity in the South West region which is much needed (And I know your trying Abedecian)

RAO's don't (yet) have access to geographical data, so unless people have openly said so on the forums where they are, only mace the data controller and johnb know this info

It wasn't so much a question to the South West RAO as it was to PPUK members who live up in Exeter (Right now, I can only see one who has openly stated he lives up there but hasn't been active for awhile, which is a shame ) . Is this something the RAO's will have access to in the future or has it not been decided yet?

I wish to help out the party where i can, but do not feel comfortable standing for such positions just yet.
I do not know of any other members who live here, which is a shame and one reason why i havent been as active as i could be in this area.

well then, looks like the clear answer to me is for you to order (will only cost you P&P) some of our fancy new flyers once we've got that set up (they arrived today), and for you to then go out and convert the masses of Exeter to join the party!

Would these be flyers to hand out to people or would the be put up in windows? Handing out flyers wouldnt be too difficult, but im not sure of anywhere that would allow flyers on the counter or in windows

they're two-sided, so primarily for handing out. But you can always ask to put things up in post offices, newsagents, or offices of companies sympathetic to what we campaign on.

It was you Indeed that I was thinking of Trevor. If you're not comfortable standing for any positions just yet, that's absolutely fine, no one's gonna hold anything against you for it. But handing out some flyers does sound like a pretty good idea, maybe we'll find people who would be interested in standing.

Do you know anything about the situation about the Council elections outside what I've heard and posted on here?

We really rely for local elections on people in the area, who are Pirates, and are willing to stand, to go do the research and talk to your council electoral services about what's required. Usually the timescale to get nominations in is about a week; if you are geared up and ready for it then the trick is to get us notified of what you need in time (any Pirate member in good standing who is eligible will be approved) and we'll get you the necessary certificate of authorisation to stand as a Party candidate issued.

You need to have lived or worked for one year in the local council area, and registered as an elector there; and to be supported/subscribed by ten local electors for the ward where you intend to stand.

In the South West you also have an active Regional Admin; Lucas Abedecian is serving this role (and has also recently been elected as a PPUK governor) either of us can sign the nomination forms authorising a Pirate member to stand for local council elections, and I will be issuing a formal written confirmation of that to Lucas in due course.

Flew back from Sweden on 11th Sept 'cos the tickets were really cheap. Superstition can be beneficial
