Sorry I didn't reply earlier - not had very good access at the conference in London this week. I'm going to actively try to get on the forums a little more and respond to email faster - but in the meantime glad to see you got it up on the front page.

Although I'll try be a little quicker with responses, my mobile number is 07411 586399 is when I'm needed. I'll make this available to those who need it.

I've cleared my calendar and will spend time this evening (and this weekend) getting things rolling. Looking forward to it :)

Right, I have no idea how successful the streaming operation was, but I believe the sound went out 98% of the time when the wireless was up.

As discussed, I will be producing the post-production edit of the conference myself. I have requested the following resources, or am waiting for them:

* I have got Rick Falkvinge's a/v recording of the conference, covering the wikileaks.ch areas and his own talk. I have requested his complete footage, however I have the wikileaks.ch talk and the beginning of Rick's talk already to hand
* Tim Dobson will be providing me with his complete official A/V of the event, waiting on him
* I have requested Finlay to provide me a copy of the slides used for the talks (so I can better integrate them into the finalised video)
* I am waiting on Andy who took the most photos of the day to provide his dump of photos which I will likely use for the intro sequence

The aim is that all materials will have been delivered to me before next weekend, allowing to completely produce the video over next weekend. I will be producing one (high) youtube quality video per talk, and a playlist for people wanting to watch the whole thing.

After that is produced, I will likely produce a 'conference highlights' of no more than 10-20 minutes, however members can feel free to then re-request my sources and produce their own edits. If however people could input into what they would/wouldn't like to see in the edit, please feel free to do so here.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Rick Falkvinge full/highlights edit which I consider a great marketing tool as it was very good indeed. :)

Would it be worth putting it all in a torrent as well? Putting it on public trackers such as thepiratebay & isohunt? That way more people will see it, and I'm more than happy to seed it all until kingdom come.

I think it might be worth doing that yes, not because it's a good platform to watch the videos, but because of the exposure that seeing it listed in torrent sites will give it. I'm not experienced with submitting torrents for high exposure, could you plan yourself a list of sites you plan to submit to so that can be done quickly?

Also think up any associated strategy that might compliment that approach if we do indeed push that route if you could :)

My raw footage will be online tomorrow.
Ajehals (Andy) used my camera during the conference and his own in the pub.

I've been running through what the format and release dates will be. It's looking like:

* Fast intro sequence featuring stills, music, flying in video snippits etc - followed by a youtube powered chapters screen
* Simply edited talks

and later:

* Highlights video.

Does anyone have any suggestions for 30 seconds of intro music? Obviously something you did yourself or creative commons.

I think it'd be good to have something from Loz if he'd be happy with it. There are some really nice tracks he has up on his site.

Re: intro. talk to ajehals - I hear he may have one
Re: music. Use tag radio http://alpha.libre.fm/listen.php to find something appropriate. (Once you find it, search the track name and artist & you'll find it's jamendo page)

I'd go with something gentle and unintrusive to be honest

Rick's given me a link to his raw vid, my downloading box is getting it overnight now.

Waiting on Tim for the vid and Andy for the pics. Finlay has put me directly in touch with people who had slides.

The latest is I have all the video, however I didn't realise I would have >16 gigs of data (my mistake) so I couldn't transfer the data easily to my friend who is editing the video. He is currently ftping the data from one of my servers which I will get an eta on shortly.

I hashed out the format of the video in more detail in case anyone wants to comment. Each section will be a different youtube video (damn their limits!)

It will be:

* Intro
* Menu to all sections

* Section 1
* Section 1 Q&A

etc

After each section you will be invited to keep watching or to return to the intro/menu.

I think this should work.

Currently I'm working around technical difficulties with semi corrupt video sources. I am for launch this weekend still however.

Where are you seeing corruption?

Some of the larger files (your tim) are not importing into the video editing app (sony vegas) and a few other. They do however play with VLC. I've been specifying relevent reprocessing tools which managed to import the files for intermediate reprocessing which looked okay as of last night.

Perhaps explaining it more literally will help make that sentence more easily readable.
eg. "We're transcoding them for HD MP4 to MKV with FFMPEG - so far it looks like it's going ok".

At the moment it's laughably fluffy. :)

I'm managing my mate who's been getting stuck. I keep proof of concepting that the files were not unreadble corrupt, and he kept pushing back saying 'aaah, it doesn't work!'. Hence I don't have specifics as I'm not dealing in specifics.

Most of the streams are now working and being uploaded to a test youtube account. We're going to switch to the live youtube account ASAP.
