diaspora

I know diaspora (the social networking thing) has popped up now and again, but I finally made myself an account on http://weleft.com/ and would be happy to have some diaspora 'friends'. I think anyone can go to that URL and create an account, and anyone with diaspora anywhere else should be able to add me via azrael@weleft.com

Might also be a nice idea to run a PPUK diaspora service. I don't know if this is something we could charge for - just a minimal amount to keep it running. It might be a way to promote the Party and spread word.

wasn't diaspora littered with privacy/security holes?

Diaspora isn't really even in Alpha. Of course it's going to have security holes.

perhaps that's a good reason not to run our own server atm ... I'd still be happy to find any diaspora friends though :D

This actually popped into my head earlier, but I think that before hosting something as 'unique' as Diaspora, it would be worth offering secure/private email service, 'Little Brother' style. Still, I'd love to see a Diaspora PPUK host in the future. Perhaps creating a stripped down debian virtual machine solely for this app would offset some of the security issues?

More recently, Diaspora has reached a more usable state and is on the road to full release. Perhaps with the anonymity issues being raised around Facebook and G+, it's time to re-open this idea?

I tried to add you but couldn't figure out how. Supposedly supposed to use the search bit, but that didn't work (apparently its a bit flakey). Will try again another time.
