Hi I'm Ryan.

I'm a 15 year old student and intend to become a fully fledged member of the party when I turn sixteen (13th of April :D).

I have been very interested in politics for a long time now but have only recently found a party that I think represents my views. :)

Hi,
I'm Andy, Thought i should finally introduce myself, I've been occasionally in The IRC channel but never actually introduced myself.
I'm 20 studying Mathematics at The University of Manchester, and originally I'm from Sheffield.

I guess I've been interested in politics for quite a long time, I have a father who is currently a local Councillor and has been for, I think, maybe 4 terms, which is where my interest comes from.

But all I'm doing with this post, really, is to say "HI!"

Hi there all,

My name is Charlie, I have actually been a member of PPUK since May 2010, but not really been active on the forums until now.
I'm 21, have a huge interest in music (listening to :P), computers and the internet. I have just been given the fantastic opportunity of joining the web team, and look forward to speaking to all of you, and doing my best to help!

Hopefully I will be able to make it to the next few gatherings/conferences and meet some of you in person!

Hello folks.

I'm Steve. My interest in PPUK peaked with Loz's AMA on Reddit.
I'm a developer by night and an IT Recruitment Consultant by day.
I have a long standing interest in politics, human rights and common sense which eventually lead me here!

I'm based in Surrey and looking to become actively involved in promoting PPUK and hopefully representing PPUK eventually.

That's me really. I make a mean sandwich too.

Hello PPUK!

I'm Mark, 18 from Argyll in Scotland. Initial interest in PPUK came a couple of years ago after the Digital Economy BIll (now Act) was brought to my attention.
Currently I work in Tesco part-time and I'm in the early stages of their management training programme.
Politics has been a big part of my life since a very young age, Dad would rope me (force me) into handing out leaflets for himself and the SNP. It was only after he took me to meet Winnie Ewing that my interest as a whole really sparked.

In future I hope to get more involved in politics, especially at a local level.

Thanks and I hope to get to know everyone :).

Hi Mark,

Welcome to PPUK. Please try and find the time to chat to members in the IRC chat.

I'm looking forward to trying to persuade you to be a local election candidate next year already :-)

Postby GrahamSimpson » Sun Jul 17, 2011 12:12 am

My name is Gray Marchiori-Simpson. I'm based in the south west. I've worked in local government since 2009, increasing my interest in going into politics. I once had a formal disciplinary interview because I complained about a Trading Standards poster that linked copyright infringement to terrorism on our staff notice boards. I've been aware of the Pirate movement since its inception internationally, and followed it with interest. I've been a member of PPUK since April 2010 (almost continuously..?) but was somewhat disinterested in getting involved given my obscene level of prior commitments.

Since that time, I've left my three year career in Apple retail over their introduction of the Mac App Store. The proto-hackerspace I founded has started to reach critical milestones (Formed as a limited company, Bank account, twitter icon) which has solidified the interest of the subscribing group. This should give me a little extra time from that as well, as I now have a few more people to delegate to; although I plan to stand for election again next month.

I also formed an IndyMedia copy over the christmas period last year named '(.be) Outspoken' but a lack of free time on my part and near complete disinterest from the local community has put that project on hold for the time being. Aside from my interest in technology, I've become an obsessive photographer who keeps a DSLR on him nearly all the time. This all links in to an aim to get into photojournalism, although half a physics degree doesn't get you far in the current job market... Albeit I've heard the Sun may need some weekend writers?

My most longstanding personal site and attempt at pseudojournalism, is my technology blog https://geekchique.org. It hosts my incessant babbling, a few of the projects I've worked on and my SecurID-authenticated web systems which are still being written. For more on the SecurID hilarity (BEST EBAY PURCHASE EVER.), here's the project writeup. :3 https://gqo.be/projectpage/?projectid=11 - Sorry if you find any bugs, it's a handwritten PHP CMS.

Like many people with an interest in journalism, I'd like to stand as a candidate for the Pirate Party. I believe strongly in civil rights, although as a 'hacker' and online journali... hack writer, I have a particular interest and knowledge of digital civil rights. I don't feel a huge patriotic attachment to the UK as a country, so I'd be most interested in running for European elections - although I'm willing to consider other elections in their own merits as they come.

I've been regularly described as outgoing and synonyms thereof, and I have no problem with publicly campaigning, either for myself or to assist other candidates or the party as a whole.

For people who want to get in touch with me, my hacked-together-cellphone (not-so-coincidentally my first cellphone from 1999) -project pending- can be called on O2 07809 208 210, but please remember I work a public sector 9-5 before you ring.

The geekchique page https://gqo.be/about hotlinks to my various online presences, but for tl;dr I'm Gray_PPUK on Twitter, GrayMarchioriSimpson@diasp.eu on Diaspora, GraySimpson on facebook; although my facebook page is likely to be shut down or at least stripped out over the coming months.

Finally, it is hard to identify one photographer from another in Teignmouth, so you're more likely to notice me taking a ferret for a walk, but (until I start knocking on your door) the best way to get in touch face to face is at the Exeter Hackerspace, E-Space Project. Our meetings can be found on the various media linked from http://www.e-spaceproject.org

I hope I can offer some help to the party as a member, meet the needs as a candidate and offer interest to the wider public as a hacker, journalist and director of a non-profit. Not to mention I try my best to save on your council tax where I can!

Highlighted the important bits in red for the tl;dr skimreaders. :)

Hi all,

I'm Andrew, I'm 41 and work in web development for the charity sector in London. Originally from the U.S. and now here for nearly six years, my previous careers have been in journalism and education and have dedicated to activism and human rights work. I've done media campaign and digital campaign work with Palestine solidarity groups and BDS campaigns. I'm interested in promoting equal rights and access to technology and information across not just national borders, but borders created by cultural, social and economic conditions as well.

While this isn't a really active political year in terms of elections, it seems imperative to me that small, focused parties such as this can actually make big gains on the relative quiet by advocating their positions in meaningful ways. I'd type more right now, but my 3-year old is demanding I help make him a fort out of the the sofa cushions.

Hi Drew, welcome aboard! (pun not intended!)

2012 will be quite a political year for London with the London assembly and mayoral elections so you should head on over to viewforum.php?f=28 and offer your help ... a sofa cushion fort might be of some use to us!

Hey there,

I'm Nathan Hardisty, 17, and I'm currently studying A-Levels at my local Sixth Form. I live in Leeds and have been a proud Pirate for many years, only recently joining, and I hope to stick around for a long while. I'd call myself, politically, central with my toe dipped in the right-wing pool. I believe that the PPUK is probably the most viable party in this country to lead to the most change in our culture and society. This party is still young, its policies are still being formed and I'd love to be a part of its history and future.
