In recent months The Pirate Bay has drastically changed its site to make it less vulnerable to ever increasing censorship attempts across the globe. But that was just the start, as the torrent site now says it’s getting ready to put some of its hardware in GPS controlled drones. “Everyone knows WHAT TPB is. Now they’re going to have to think about WHERE TPB is,” The Pirate Bay team told TorrentFreak.

This is obvious off the back of the fact that the 'content' of tpb is now only 90 megs of magnet links - easy to host anywhere.

Now I've done my serious pirate party stuff for the day, so I will unashamably say:

“When the time comes we will host in all parts of the galaxy, being true to our slogan of being the galaxy’s most resilient system. And all of the parts we’ll use to build that system on will be downloadable.”

No, it would be very cheap for an advertising gimmick, very expensive to create a comprehensive application.

How cheap are drones that can hold enough hardware to broadcast a half decent wifi signal? Obviously we'd only require one for a gimmick...but I doubt even 1 is cheap xP

Right now out side of military applications there's no drones to do what they want to do so the cost of R&D will be very high, assuming they are happy to swallow that then the actual build costs could be low. Right now a low flying Drone would cost you about £200 bare bones, the transmitting equipment is not expensive. Current ones will fly for about 10-30mins before falling out the sky. Now they want to fly the drones at a height of several kilometres so will fall foul of the CAA who will not like you flying drones up into the flight paths of planes.

Assuming the CAA are cool with it and you only want it to be airborne for 30mins max then I reckon you could build one for <£500, but you need to be prepared to lose it as it might just vanish at that height.

£500 for a prototype with a flight time of 30 minutes after which you might not see again..sounds expensive to me xD
