Now I'm sure that this will be nothing to worry about! But this forum really exists to run ideas by each other, make sure statistics and information on materials are truthfull and correct.

The policy has apparently changed, you guys no longer need to watermark leaflets unofficial just use your common sense. Nothing that would harm the party. If you post a leaflet just take on board the feedback.

Here is a list of resources so far that can help you with any design suggestions :

Good point, I'll add a little explaining message. At the moment I'll leave them up though, since it's a case of a splodge of black to remedy the situation on any poster.

How can I get my leaflets approved? I really need them printed before fresher's week, which isn't very long now.

Don't wait for approval. Just use common sense and don't put the party's name to anything that will hurt the party. That means be sensitive to the fact that leaflets will be seen by enemies as well as supporters, so avoid anything that can be used against us.

Who do you speak for? Who is johnsmithson? It looks like johnsmithson is a sockpuppet.

Do we have a .svg of the logo?

also what's the specific font used, and the hexcode or hsv for the turquoise?

I'd like to second this -- we really need this information if we're going to make high-quality "official-looking" posters/other materials that match the style of the website and the official posters...

An official font (is there one? at least whatever is used in the current logo) would be great, and one of the most important things to generate co-ordinated, professional looking promotional materials.

I've sent Andy an e-mail -- hopefully we'll get some answers soon.

Update: Reply from Andy! Synopsis below (this stuff should be transferred to the wiki if possible -- similar to http://wiki.piratpartiet.se/grafiskprofil)

Colours

The official colours are black and Pantone 311.
  • For print purposes, use 100% process Cyan if Pantone 311 isn't available.
  • For the web, #438E90 is recommended, but any cyan/turquoise colours can be used

Fonts

The official logo font is a recut of DIN Black. There's no good open source alternative, and this issue is not going to be reopened -- I'll try and get an SVG with the logo text converted to paths made available.

The heading font is "Alte DIN 1451 Mittelschrift gepraegt, Regular." This should be used for short points and headings only, not for long paragraphs of text. This is an open source font, and can be downloaded from http://www.abstractfonts.com/font/13882

For body text, use one of the following, in descending order of preference:
  • Rotis San Serif
  • Helvetica
  • Arial

Update 2: I've made a start on transferring this to the wiki: Publicity style guide

I certainly would not recommend using the Union Flag in any logo. I mean, think of one other party that uses the Union Flag in their logo. Not a good look methinks. It would encourage people who do not support the party to distort its image to their advantage.
