Press Office

What is the Press Office?

The Press Office is responsible for promoting the Pirate Party UK in the media and responding to general requests for information about the party.

Through the use of the mailing list, IRC, the wiki, and PiratenPad, the Press Office writes releases which are sent to the media. Releases are based on current events that the party should comment on or things that the party has done.

During an election, candidates are recommended to have local press offices specifically for their constituency. This is because it is difficult for the geographically diverse national office to send releases to local media and write responses on behalf of particular candidates without close, continuous contact. If it is not possible for a candidate to put together a local office, the nearest press team member will be assigned directly to them.

How can I contact the Press Office?

For more information about the Party, specific statements or quotes, or to automatically receive press releases email the Press Office at press@pirateparty.org.uk or call one of our Press Team on 0161 987 7880.

Who is on the Press Team?

The Press Office is currently handled by Will Tovey (Duke) and others; however we are currently looking for a member to take over the responsibility of running the Press Office, in addition to more volunteers to help write releases. If you would be interested please contact press@pirateparty.org.uk
