Becoming a Candidate for the Pirate Party UK
Pirate Party UK Candidates are the driving force of the party and the tools we use to make our manifesto become a reality.
I'm Interested in becoming a candidate for the party what should I do now?
That's good!
The very first thing is that you must be a party member in good standing at the time of announcing your intention to stand as one of our candidates.
Secondly you must have gained the support of at least two members of the party through the process of seconding as detailed in section 9 of our Constitution.
Finally you must meet the legal eligibility criteria to stand in the election which you wish to be a candidate. These criteria are unique to each election but are normally based on age, whether you have been convicted of any election related crimes, hold a position that stops you being a candidate, such as lord spiritual, and being a resident of the specified constituency.
If those steps run smoothly it is likely the Nominations Officer and the Campaigns Officer will wish to speak to you several times to ensure your suitability, availability and commitment in being a party candidate. Then you will follow the Candidate Selection Process.
The Campaigns Team and Nominations Officer will also be on hand to advise you and offer you support during your time as a candidate and also ensuring you have the correct information before you commit to becoming a candidate.
