Matters Arising

None

OES Campaign

  • Expressing thanks to those involved.
  • Having a large group of activists in one place has made a real difference.
  • We need to find a way to use what we have done and learnt.
  • Applying what we've learned to Scottish Campaign; what will work in Glasgow, Highlands, etc.
  • Target in Oldham should be about 1% (300+ votes). Would show progress.
  • Campaign expenditure has been approx £1500.
  • Main benefit of this by-election is not so much votes: but changed perception of party. Gained respect of people who might not vote for us, but we can pressure them to take on board our ideas

Scottish Campaign

Candidates

  • 4 candidates so far.
  • Newsletter to include call for more candidates.
  • We need to have candidates done by conference.
  • If 2 week ratification, needs to be sorted soon. Ratification vote is important.
  • Scottish Meeting soon.

Manifesto

Fund Raising

  • Blanket flyering isn't that effective, need to be more focused.
  • Easier to get money if we can demonstrate when/why it'd be used.
  • Donation Meter
  • Posters in window
  • Signs can be made for about £1.50 per unit. Could be sold at cost or profit to supporters.
  • Weekly Street stalls, etc.
  • Visibility is big issue. Reusable materials. Constant presence.
  • Smarter use of funds: skipping mailshots.
  • Lots of small donations rather than few large contributions.
  • Billboards. Helps raise perceptions of us, and is cost effective vs mailshot. Would require booking now.

Local Campaign

Candidates

  • Encouragingly, we've had several candidates come forward, or at least enquire.

Adapting policies to local powers

  • Not enough to just campaign at time, candidates have to get out there beforehand, immerse themselves in the community and its issues.
  • Open Data policies

Central Funding / Materials

  • Don't have the ability to fund everything.
  • Ability to put time/money into specific areas.

Conference

  • Pete L not paid fees
  • Ticket Sales poor (9). Need to push more to members.

Web Team

Team Leader

  • Needs to be resolved
  • Not so much a matter of technical skill but of communication: things need to be able to happen quickly.
  • Discussion of Chris' proposed web strategy.
  • Web Team Leader vs SysAdmin
  • Suggestion that Miah hold root, with sudo given to those who need it.
  • Multiple people means more chance someone available to handle requests.
  • Data Protection agreements for any new admins.
  • NEC votes in favour of giving Chris M access. Loz to talk to Chris.

Bank Account

Not discussed due to absence of treasurer.

Free Student Members

Not discussed due to absence of treasurer.

AOB

  • Positive Reaction to our Pro-AV stance. Getting members involved in Yes To AV is a good way for members to get campaign experience, and raise our profile, at no cost to us.
