Social Media

Info from SO regarding PPUK ranking on FB of UK parties - we are currently 10th. We need to look at our usage of Social Media and make sure stuff is being pushed out regularly and is relevant.

There was debate over using FB due to privacy policy, it was decided that using it was the lesser evil for the party due to the volume of users.

FB Content needs to be more engaging and fun - not flooded with updates

Conversion rates from FB to site are very low - needs improvement.

PC mentioned there are 4 admins on the FB page including himself - this needs reviewing to ensure the correct people have access.

LK suggested this may be a role for someone new to the party who is interested in getting more involved. AH may have some possibilities and would like to bring this into the campaigns team as it is reformed.

PC suggested 1- 2 updates a day for FB to avoid spamming news feeds - Twitter can be updated a lot more frequently if needed but both need to help bring traffic back to the site.

Until someone is tasked with these updates, PC volunteered to put stuff out onto the FB page when required.

AH asked about member engagement and how info from members could be filtered out into our social media feeds - possibly by having facebook@ppuk email addresses?

LK asked if it was possible for organisations to be on google+ - this will need to be looked into. One problem is that g+ isn't supported by google apps accounts yet.

LK also mentioned diaspora and that this may be a way forward longer term, which he will look into.

Policy

AH stated that this is going well, there was an initial burst with over 1000 unique visits in the first 24 hours and there are currently over 120 suggestions being debated. Over 160 individuals subscribed and 10 new members signed up to the party as a direct result of the process.

We have had 2 mentions in the press and there is broad discussion of possible policy.

Next step is to push with press and also push out to expired and current members to try and reengage them. LK will also promote with his high profile contacts. LK & Tim Dobson to look at an audio 'thing' along with AH.

Scottish Elections

AH spoke to Finlay at end of previous week after a discussion with PC about moving this forward. There is a meeting scheduled for early this week. They are looking for a candidate to stand in both this election and the elections in May to build momentum. AH has asked them to get on the ground and start waving the flag asap regardless so our presence is felt.

PC is waiting for confirmation on candidate so he can proceed with the paperwork.

LK suggested following @britainvotes as they are good at picking up on elections so we can look at fighting them.

AH will want to get a message out to local voters as soon as we know we are standing and also get NEC/Board members out on the ground for both experience and morale boosting.

PC to check on membership in GL postcode for AH for possible mailout.

AH will follow up with Finlay to ensure this keeps moving.

NEC meet times

AH, LK and PC agreed that Monday 20:00 would be better for the NEC meeting as we get frequently get apologies for the Sunday meetings. LK to confirm with GM.

AOB

LK has been asked to do a talk at for a large thinktank in Europe next month.

PC mentioned that EG is on leave and he is covering urgent matters for the web team, Steve is dealing with day to day to keep systems running. The data controller election is ongoing and will finish in just over a weeks time.

AH - Mentioned reporting financials and stats, it was agreed we should add this as a regular agenda item to ensure everyone is up to date.
