Apologies

Minutes

Previously approved and published.

Yes to AV

Loz Kaye has been talking with the organisers of the Yes to AV campaign. It seems there is the perception in some quarters that we condone and/or encourage illegal behaviour, which clearly is not the case. Loz Kaye will continue discussions.

Graeme Lambert tweeted the latest YouGov poll from the PPUK twitter account.

Action: Loz Kaye will continue discussions, and email Katie Ghose, one of the Yes campaign coordinators.

Party address

Miah Gregory suggested that we go with a virtual office/address, rather than someones personal address, so that we don’t have to keep changing it as folks join/leave the party.

It was also suggested that:

  • It's in a geographically convenient location for ease of physical access, if necessary
  • It's paid on an annual basis

A number of locations were discussed, but the cheapest on the table seemed to be Glasgow.

All members of the NEC present agreed that we should go ahead with this.

Action: Miah Gregory will research options for this up in Glasgow and report back to the NEC.

Finances

A lengthy discussion about the state of the treasury took place, and resulted in a unanimous vote of no confidence by all NEC officers present.

Action: Peter Brett to email Board of Governors tomorrow morning.

Proposal that Miah Gregory take over as deputy/temporary treasurer with immediate effect. All NEC officers present agreed this.

Peter Brett suggested that Miah Gregory have full authority to make payments/allocate funds as required, within sensible limits. All NEC officers present agreed this.

Peter Brett asked that we get on the end of the paypal sales email address treasure_chest@ppuk ASAP.

Action: Miah Gregory has taken over this email address and changed the password.

John Barron asked that the bankers drafts for the Scottish candidates be sorted out for next week.

Action: John Barron to email Miah Gregory with specific details.

Action: Miah Gregory to organise bankers drafts (or cash, as appropriate/possible).

Any other business

Finlay Archibald has joined PPI board

Congratulations to Finlay Archibald for being voted in to the board of PPI at the weekend.

Loz Kaye stepping down as a Governor

As per the constitution, Loz Kaye is stepping down as a Governor.

ORG

Loz Kaye has been talking to ORG.

In discussions with Jim Killock there was agreement to share information and coordinate where beneficial.

Donation meter

Graeme Lambert asked whether we could get a donation meter set up.

Action: Phil Cooke to feed this back to web team.

Membership enquiries

Miah asked that someone else on the NEC take on the role of handling membership enquiries on a temporary basis, to avoid overloading himself. Peter Brett volunteered to do this. Peter Brett asked for assistance from web team in determining what the process is.

Action: Phil Cooke to look into the process aspects and get back to Peter Brett.

Simultaneous Board and NEC membership

Graeme Lambert noted that the Board of Governors probably need to be asked for clarification on whether he can remain on the board as he has an unelected position on the NEC. Peter Brett is in a similar position.

Action: Graeme Lambert/Peter Brett to raise this with the Board of Governors

Dope Stars Inc

Dope Stars Inc - this is a band launching a pro-piracy business model for their new album. Graeme Lambert suggested that we should be throwing our weight behind them, and any other bands following a similar strategy. Dope Stars apparently has support from a lot of other European Pirate Parties, but nothing from us.

Student memberships

Graeme Lambert emailed the NEC list with details of a student who’s looking for their free membership.

Action: Peter Brett to take this on initially from a membership perspective. Input from Miah Gregory as required.
