Minutes

Minutes of 7th February already approved.

Press team

Gavin M. is fielding press enquiries at present. Happy to continue this. Want to spread the load of dealing with enquiries, interviews, etc.

Loz Kaye able to do Manchester enquiries, need someone available in London.

John Barron willing to act as a fallback / now close to London, usually already plenty to do under existing PPUK responsibilities however. Will take on Sunday 20th radio interview.

Suggestions of additional persons: e.g. GE2010 candidates Jack Nunn and/or Mark Sims, delegate to press team to chase this. Loz Kaye will contact Will T. and Gavin M. on this.

Finance

VM hosting needs to be paid.

Proposals for future on table. Need Pete L in attendance.

Finlay to chase PeteL / get response. John B. to chase bill / may choose to pay immediately & get reimbursement from PPUK - Update: PeteL will action as described in IRC section of meeting below.

Member votes

Scots vote results about to be published, following meeting.

Stephen Ogden deserves special mention for the effort put in on constitutional amendments and getting the member vote questions ready. Vote is nearly finalised / ready to go, John Barron able to complete that any convenient upcoming weekend as advised by the Board.

Loz Kaye: as well as elections upcoming, we can be effective campaigning e.g. on Digital economy act - another political goal for this year during judicial review. Discussion of what we can hope to do and possible tactics/strategy. Peter Brett to contact ORG to discuss how we can work together on the issue, and also bring up at campaigns meeting 16th Feb.

Member communications / newsletters

This is currently overdue. NEC consensus that newsletters should continue / these help keep passive members aware we're still active. Peter Brett will discuss with Graeme L.

Any other business

Finlay: March PPI conference in Germany, Finlay is interested in attending if possible, other NEC members present are unable to attend on those dates. Can have up to six delegates, if any other UK members want to join Finlay. Suggested mention in next newsletter / link to forum thread. There is a €50 registration fee.

22:20 Meeting switched to IRC to discuss treasury matters

PeteL will pay VM hosting by debit card/recover by cheque. Discussion of treasury assistance/recruit "book-keeping role" if possible, and legwork contacting councils which would help manage the workload. Pete L. will document / pass to Graeme L. to advertise to PPUK community.

Discussion of Scottish election reporting requirements. Also Graeme L needs to complete expenses reporting for Oldham & Saddleworth by-election, will sort out with Loz Kaye.

22:41 Loz Kaye round-up

Last week was pretty good for our agenda, ACS Law is no more and serious doubts raised about speculative invoicing and pursuing individual filesharers. ID cards decommissioning being done by govt, freedom bill launched, and Loz was on breakfast TV

<LozKaye> Let's keep it going in our direction, and let people know that our views can win out.
