Attendees

Andrew Tindall, Loz Kaye, Andrew Paliwoda, Peter Brett, John Barron

Apologies

None received.

Approve minutes of last meeting.

The minutes of the previous NEC meeting were approved and have been published.

Matters arising

Oldham By-Election

Loz Kaye has spoken to a few folks about this and has some concerns about identifying someone suitable in the constituency to receive material.

Jack Allnutt reckons he doesn’t have access to postcodes etc. John Barron will send Loz Kaye and Jack Allnutt the information that he currently has, which is slightly out of date, but will be useful as a general overview.

NUS may field a candidate.

Timescale for election is as yet unknown, but we should assume that we will only get a weeks notice to get all the paperwork organised.

Status of exec@ and nec@

Andrew Tindall reported that this seemed to be up and running.

Party Vote on AV Referendum

John Barron reported that this is in hand.

Andrew Paliwoda is working on some leaflets to hand out in Glasgow and Edinburgh city centres this coming weekend. The Scottish party now have a reasonable idea as to people who may want to stand as a candidate.

It was noted that an internal ratification vote should be run in due course for all Scottish members to confirm the candidates being put forward for the election.

The manifesto needs to be done, hope is to get this up for review in December, and opening it up to the world by February. Still thinking up new things to add, all the time. Need to organise fund raising, and this should be done soon.

Plan is to release manifesto at the conference in February.

John Barron asked for an update on the conference.

A program has been put together.

The whole of Strathclyde students union has been booked (8 floors). There is no hire cost, just staffing costs. Finlay is organising this. We need to start promoting this event to the membership to maximise attendance etc.

Peter Brett asked how many guest speakers / workshops we have, and pondered whether we should start having a weekly speaker profile on the front page blog.

Loz Kaye would like to see some suggested content put together that can be used by members writing to their MP’s and other interested parties, emphasising the importance of copyright reform etc.

Finlay Archibald was unable to join the meeting due to technical problems, however he confirmed that he would email conference stuff to the NEC list tonight with the planned programme of events.

Managing access to resources

Andrew Tindall believed that WilliamFS had youtube access, but doesn’t manage it. He believes that m2ys4u controls the del.icio.us account. Andrew Tindall also noted that ‘borgs’ had admin of most/all facebook groups/pages, but was not sure if this was still the case.

Peter Brett was not sure who has the login for the youtube channel, but suspected that Tom should have the access details for emergencies.

Treasurers statement

Peter Liddell was not available for comment at this meeting. It was noted that regular attendance of the treasurer is critical to the ongoing smooth operation of the party.

Paypal

No visible progress on this, based on the paypal account. The bank account still needs to be confirmed, and the money transferred to the Bank of Scotland account.

Action: Loz Kaye will speak to Peter Liddell about this, and if Andrew Paliwoda sees him, he will also pass on the message.

Co-op bank account

Loz Kaye has received an email from Andrew Robinson and will forward it to Miah Gregory.

Bank of Scotland bank account

No update.

Any other business

Andrew Tindall asked whether Chris Mole is still active, as he hadn’t heard from him in a while. Peter Brett noted a similar experience.

Action: Peter Brett will email Chris Mole.

Andrew Tindall also noticed that the South West RAO, Lucas Abedecian had also not been heard from in a while.

Andrew Paliwoda asked about the Amazon affiliate link, and what happened about this. The theory behind this is that members could purchase things via an affiliate link from Amazon, which would result in some income coming back into the party. Andrew Tindall asked how this would work with respect to declaring donations etc. It was felt that this was a question for the treasurer, however the general feeling was that it would be handled as small donations.

Peter Brett suggested the idea of an NEC panel at the conference. Andrew Tindall added to this that, subject to the vote, perhaps something on AV.

Peter Brett also suggested that we should decide if we want the NEC / RAOs / other party officers to stick around the following day. Andrew Paliwoda noted that there are thoughts about having Sunday as a training day, but is not sure who will be organising this yet.

Andrew Paliwoda noted that the PPUK shot glasses are ready to go online.
