NEC meeting minutes 24th May 2010
Attendees
Andrew Tindall, Andrew Robinson, Miah Gregory, Peter Brett, John Barron, Philip Hunt
Summary
Start of NEC meeting
Apologies: Finlay Archibald, Peter Liddell
Minutes of previous meeting approved.
Devolved elections. Various things need to be changed, in the constitution and so on. Items that the current government decided to act on (e.g. dropping the I.D. cards project) should be removed from the manifesto and moved onto some kind of 'successes' page as they occur.
Internal elections. One nomination for campaigns officer so far. Six seconded Regional Administrative Officer applications for five regions, with Scotland having two applications. No application yet for the East Midlands.
Next newsletter goes out on Friday. It is released fortnightly, so a bit late to encourage members to stand.
Action: John Barron will put together a blog post encouraging more people to step forward for the Regional Administrative Officer positions where no-one has applied yet.
Eleven people have put themselves forward for the Board of Governors, of which eight have been seconded.
NEC agrees that people can be both a parliamentary candidate and stand on the Board of Governors.
Eric Priezkalns would like to get more involved in the Party. He's proposing to set up another website called Pirate Home, which would fulfil the same agenda as the Conservative Home/Lib Dem Voice websites, and allow for more significant viewpoints. Peter Brett suggested a blog aggregator style website. Perhaps the two ideas can be merged.
Action: Peter Brett will talk to Eric Priezkalns and Tom Lilley regarding this.
Publication of yearly accounts and publication of election spending.
Action: Andrew Robinson will remind Peter Liddell about the publication of yearly accounts and Andrew Robinson will publish the election spending as he managed this.
Andrew Tindall requested updates/content for the newsletter.
Diarmuid was talking to Peter Liddell about merchandising etc. Are there any constraints on this kind of thing? Andrew Robinson suggested that we should ideally design centrally, but print locally.
Reminder to put items onto the agenda.
Andy will be attending the University of Durham soon to take part in a debate. This looks like a positive sign, as this is the kind of event Rick Falkevinge would previously have been asked to attend.
