Summary
Start of NEC meeting
Minutes of previous meeting approved.
Merchandising. We had a free weekend for shipping from Spreadshirt, however there was a comment on twitter that suggested that this might have not been the case. Peter Brett also needs to order some stickers soon.
Devolved elections.
Green Party collaboration in Scotland. No progress on this as the relevant people are away at the moment.
Scottish regions/constituencies. Peter Brett spoke to Andrew Paliwoda about this. We would require £4000 and up to 56 candidates to stand in the 8 regions. Suggestion that we could put the same list of people up in each region. This wouldn’t save any money, but would reduce the number of candidates we would need to find.
Candidate selection. Andrew Paliwoda proposed that candidate selection in Scotland would be done using STV. NEC agreed this.
Freshers’ Campaign.
Advert in The Student Guide. This has been paid for, and the advert was in before the print deadline. This points at a landing page: http://www.pirateparty.org.uk/students
Ordering packs. Finlay Archibald said the pack designs are ready to go. He has leaflets, button badges together. Also pondering putting some project postcards in too. He is thinking about 50 packs, which he estimates would cost around £400 + postage and packing. Discussion about how this should be funded. Postage costs for Royal Mail standard parcels would be £4.41, and packaging might be around £1. Action: Andrew Paliwoda will put together full costings and email them to the mailing list.
Landing page still needs to be implemented.
Young Pirates UK - thoughts on reviving this. Action: Finlay Archibald will contact ‘bliss’ regarding this.
Glasgow office. Andrew Paliwoda can get an office for around £150 per month, but it’s not great. It does have meeting rooms available though. If this can be done on an affordable and realistic ongoing basis then we should consider this. Brief discussion about hiring a part time person to handle party admin, but this was felt to be too costly at the moment.
Press team - new press officer needed. Action: Peter Brett will organise a blog and getting this into the newsletter.
