From Pirate Party UK Wiki
NEC meeting 4th October 2009 - 5.30pm
Attendees
Andy, Eric, Miah, Philip
Summary
Queens speech gets ever closer. Basically waiting for the Government to say something about P2P. Keep your ears open for any news on this, can't progress until we have some.
Constituency organisations.
Need to think about the candidate selection process, and what we're announcing at this stage.
Pitch as initial tentative request for long list of candidates.
What should candidates do on non-pirate party issues? We are a decentralised party, thus allow localised variations in policy. Candidates are encouraged to respond to the concerns of local people, but should preface non-party comments with 'this is my opinion, and not necessarily that of the party' or similar, and will be responsible to voters directly, ala independant MPs.
Handover from Gavin to TomL Action: Miah to contact TomL to proceed on this front.
Ratification of new positions and responsibilities Stalled waiting for voting system.
Featured Artists Coalition
They have been issuing contradictory statements, working with artists with well known viewpoints such as Lily Allen, etc.
Andy has gotten hold of a PR officer and is trying to open a dialog; hopefully Andy's message will be forwarded to the upper levels of the organisation on Monday.
Rights status of the logo.
No progress on getting hold of Rick Falkvinge.
Andy is hoping to be at an event with Rick within the next month.
Suggestion that we contact Dan Bull and ask whether we can make use of his music, collaborate, etc. Action: Phillip will contact him.
Processing forms for Johns resignation. Action: Phillip to complete his section of the form and post to Andy.
Phillip met with Patrick Harvie from the Scottish Green Party on Tuesday. Had informal meeting which went well.
Andy will look to contact Tom Watson.
Need to think about how to get the press to talk to us more.
Andy is co-writing an article for Dennis publishing - PC Pro magazine, but may be more publications. Two page spread. 800 words from Andy on one side of the argument. 800 words from the head of the BPI about the other side of the argument.
