Nominating Officer Role and Responsibilities
Introduction
This is a basic summary of the duties which this role covers. It is not definitive and is subject to change at any time, either as a result of legal requirements or those of the party and the membership. The role holder is a voting member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and is elected no less than every two years.
Summary
- Keeping up to date and informing NEC/Board of any relevant changes to Electoral Commission information and requirements concerning this role
- Ensuring the NEC and other relevant parties are aware of election time-scales as they become available from the Electoral Commission
Ratifying candidates and assisting them with completion of nomination forms and any other paperwork allowing them to stand on the parties behalf
- Maintaining party details with the Electoral Commission as required, alongside other NEC officers
- Organise and administrate internal elections in conjunction with the Board/NEC (dependent on election type) and IT team
- Provide support to candidates alongside Campaigns Officer during election campaigns (varies depending on election type)
- Attend weekly NEC meetings and offer support/guidance as required
- Liaise with IT team to ensure appropriate information is available for candidates on the party website, that IT facilities such as email and campaign sub-sites are available for candidate campaigns (in conjunction with campaigns team) and implementation/maintenance/security (with party secretary/IT team lead as required) of voting system for internal elections.
- Other relevant administration duties as required by NEC/Board to fulfil role or party requirements
