PPUK SE in Oxford 2011-03-12 at Royal Blenheim

Attending: John Barron, Alex Brett, Robert Munro (Jamie), Stephen Ogden

Report from last meeting:

Passed a motion supporting a national managed office. Took JBs order for a hoodie. Discussion of live stream at conference. Duke volunteered for nominet open consultation and hargreaves reveiw. Agreed with London RAO (MonkeyJam) that every two months there'd be a joint London/SE meeting in London. Discussion regarding improving the facebook page with photos - thus we should make an effort to take photos at the conference - Tim Dobson and Andy Halls have done this, so note made to chase up photos from them.

Report from conference:

Brief discussion of the 2011 conference as well as some discussion about the 2012 conference.

Newsletter:

A brief note that the PPUK emailer doesn't auto prefix subject lines and people using the emailer should remmeber to add party/regional prefixes where necessary.

Note also made to check upcoming events for content when sending newsletters.

Amendment voting:

It was noted that voting on constitutional amendments had closed the preceding day and that John Barron would post the results the following day. AP on SO to email about results, post changes to wiki, etc. SO noted that some amendments needed immediate review and improvement.

Preparation for local elections:

There was some administrative work with John Barron providing SO with paperwork that authorises SO to sign off on local candidates.

Re campaign literature, was noted that current fliers could be used prior to the officical changing of address. John Barron noted that where custom fliers needed to be made, to contact previous candidates (e.g. Shaun Dyer) to copy design.

AP on SO: seek custom text/design for flyers and someone to make up templates

Campaign help:

AP on SO to make volunteering sound sexy.

Local Profile:

Maidenhead - Reading - Oxford triangle is JBs new hang-out and he wants to set up a Pirate Crew to cover the area. SO offered to help organise meetings if needed, JB will lead on kicking off activity. AB and RM agreed tohelp JB.

Suggestion that perhaps Rancidpunk could be asked to lead on creating a Portsmouth Pirate Crew.

Oxford Geek night was mentioned at which 1 minutes talking slots could be booked. Ditto for Reading Geek Night??

Regional Profile:

Scuzz had posted forum idea re AUs and this was discussed. Agreed that would be good long term, but not ready for this yet.

AP on SO to ask members to identify local groups of interest and pass on to RAO.

AOB:

Name: The suitability of the name was discussed, again.

L.E. Candidates:

Alex Brett was arm twisted into standing in a closer ward than he had previouslly offered and declined (due to RAO error it turns out this ward was not having elections so this offer was unable to be accepted).

Job:

SO noted he had an interview for a new job which would put some delays on production of minutes etc (and procrastination led to further delays).
