Discussion
- Election results
Discussion of AV referendum, Scottish results, and Graeme's impressive performance in Bury council elections. At this stage we are not nearly as large as for example Piratenpartei, discussion and comparison of experiences with the German members attending.
- Local activity
Discussed Oxford Geek Night again, next one is 15th June at the Jericho Tavern, we will put in for a 5-minute "microslot" introducing the Pirate Party (RJM / JB will organise).
Discussion of how community driven use of the technology can deliver results at a local level, often far more effectively and at lower cost than centrally driven, e.g. how initiatives like mysociety.org, fixmystreet, theyworkforyou, traintimes.org.uk, and others, and how the concept behind these fit into the Pirate narrative - these are things any Pirate candidate should be supporting and talking about why they make sense.
Local hackerspaces, one exists in Oxford (presently based in the Bicycle Warehouse_, and people in Reading are trying to get one started. While these are not themselves "political", again they are naturally something Pirate members may want to get involved in anyway which all helps spread awareness.
- Anne Muir filesharing case
Discussion of issues around software, competition, the Pirate Bay, music, concerts, and more.
End of formal meeting, followed by break for curries and informal discussion.
