From Pirate Party UK Wiki
In my early 40s, married with four children.
I work in Havant as an information security architect after managing to escape from a couple of government information assurance/security roles.
I am a keen motorcyclist although age is now taking its toll and I would categorise myself as a fair-weather biker now! I enjoy good food, good alcohol and good company, preferably all together. I have an amateur interest in cryptography but I am passionate about all aspects of information security.
I was drawn to the Pirate Party by my utter disgust of the way scientific endeavour is being stifled by patent protection, particulary but not exclusively in the field of medicine. I find it particularly repugnant that human lives are deemed to be less valuable than corporate profits and I see the Pirate Party as being the best vehicle to bring real awareness and change to this situation. There are many other aspects where scientific and technological advancement are being hampered by patent law which to my mind has become farcical with the major technology corporations beginning to rely on patents rather than innovation to drive their profits which reduces consumer choice, increases costs and ultimately provides the user with a sub-optimal service. I would like to see the Pirate Party develop the manifesto to demonstrate to a disenfranchised UK eloctorate that there is party that understands and is in tune with their needs and is not beholden to the financiers of large corporations. It is my aspiration to help the Pirate Party achieve this goal.
