Summary

The form of copyright to adopt as policy is a question of the party's direction: to abolish copyright is extreme but establishes an imposing statement more likely to make an impact, to reform copyright is not as extreme but more likely to be implemented. It is unclear whether reform should be a stepping stone to abolishment or that reform should be the end-goal.

From an economic standpoint, immediate abolishment is unwise as there would be a 'bubble bursting' effect. The financial incentive to creators of a monopoly over a work would also be lost meaning that fewer creators could afford to live off of their work and as a result fewer works would be made.

Alternatively, limited copyright terms, including a shortened copyright duration and legalisation of non-commercial sharing, strikes a middle-ground that allows temporary monopoly over a work for commercial purposes but allows the dissemination of a work at the advantage of the public.
