Network neutrality is a principle proposed for user access networks participating in the Internet that advocates no restrictions on content, sites, or platforms, on the kinds of equipment that may be attached, and on the modes of communication allowed, as well as communication that is not unreasonably degraded by other traffic.

Summary

The party should support a net neutrality law that ensures the equal treatment of all traffic and the respect of the IP type of service header. This would ensure that new enterprises and innovative services have an equal opportunity to compete with existing companies, that certain types of traffic or service could not be restricted or given an unfair advantage, and that the network operates as efficiently as possible. Traffic management necessarily requires the monitoring of the traffic, causing privacy concerns.

On the other hand, traffic shaping is important to ISPs from a business perspective. Absolute equality of traffic may be impractical or undesirable.
