The Treasurer is Sinking

This is one of those good news/bad news stories.

The good news is that new members and money keeps pouring in.

The bad news is that you're killing your treasurer in the process.

The News is Out

The news is out. much sooner than we had planned, the mainstream media swooped down on our humble PPUK website, latched on to the announcement that we have officially launched the party, and spread it far and wide. I guess you could call it sharing the good news. We're all for sharing, though it means Andrew now has an impossible task as leader, trying to handle all the interview requests that have flooded in.

Joining the Journey

Enthusiastic support for the party has, up to now, sometimes blinded us to the fundamental truth: there was no party. The Pirate Party UK existed only as an idea. But now it is real, and here to stay for as long as it is needed. At the end of last month, the Electoral Commission confirmed the registration. You can see the PPUK entry on the official register.

You can make a difference, right now.

You can make a difference, right now.

Following they government's Digital Britain report, which outlined their plans for a £50,000 fine for file sharing and to introduce site, IP address and protocol blocking, port blocking, content-based censorship, transfer capping, bandwidth shaping and bandwidth capping for net connections for suspected file sharers without a trial or a chance to appeal, the Government's Department for Business Innovation and Skills are running a consultation on their plans.

The party is registered!

The long-awaited news has finally arrived, the Pirate Party UK is now officially registered as a political party! This means we can raise funds, have Pirate Party Candidates at the next general election, and do all the other things that political parties do. Getting to this stage has been a long process, we've had to elect officers, raise funds, fill out forms, meet with some (very helpful) people at the Electoral Commission, and learn far more about electoral law and the special party funding rules that apply to Gibraltar than any same person would ever want to.

As you can see the website is all nice, new and shiny! We've updated the looks, added content and now your forum account can be used on the main website. Currently you can use your new website account to comment on blogs! So far, that's really it, but we've got some plans for features that'll use your account so keep a lookout.

Your username for the site should be the same as your username on the forum, UNLESS you had a period, dash, space, [ or capital letter in your name. The characters were removed and all username made lowercase, so if your forum account was "Miss.Ex-ample" your account is now "missexample". Your post count and forum details are still intact so no need to worry too much

Furthermore the passwords weren't copied across at all so you'll have to set a new password for your account,
