Across the UK local elections will soon be taking place. If you've ever considered a future in politics, this is the perfect place to start and flex your muscles.
As the original Pirate Party founder said, "Civil liberties are just like muscles. They must be exercised regularly in full, or they will weaken, wither, and atrophy." So with that, we would like to invite you to #BeThePirate and in turn give everyone in your local area the chance to #VotePirate. 4th May will be a day where we can show the established parties that we will resist cuts to vital services, such as our open and free access to knowledge in local libaries and we will fight digital exclusion in our communities by putting Pirates in local government.
The intention is that final paperwork organisation will take place at the PPUK Meetup in Birmingham on March 25th, however other arrangements can be put in place before this if it is deemed necessary. There is an amazing community feeling on our Discord chat, and everyone is more than willing to help out a fellow pirate, whether it be just to hang out, or even to discuss serious pirate policy.
So, if you'd like more information on standing as a candidate in an election with the Pirate Party UK, or if you just want a chat about anything election-related, please get in touch with the party on email@example.com, and a member of the Nominations Office will be in touch. Or feel free to come message us on Discord too!
The Party and candidates are required to submit papers to Returning Officers before a set date, which is rapidly approaching at the end of March, so please get in touch nice and early if you do intend to stand! We'd really like to push the boat out with this.
