Internal Election: Board of Governor By-Election Results

Board of Governors 2017 By-Election Summary

Samuel Mills, Noah Stride and Jeb Hedges are declared elected after counting 20 ballots using ERS97 STV. There were 5 candidates for 3 seats (including RON).

Detailed Results:

There were zero spoilt (aka empty) ballots cast and 20 valid ballots cast across the 5 candidates.

The bar charts below show the vote counts for each candidate in each round.

Yellow – Votes carried over from previous round
Green – Votes received in this round
Red – Votes transferred away in this around

A candidate’s votes in a round is the sum of the yellow and green bars, since the green and red bars represent votes being transferred, the sum of the green and red bars is the same.

The exhausted bar represents votes where the voter did not indicate a next preference and thus there were no candidates to transfer the vote to.

Stage One:

Count of first choices. The initial quota is 5 votes. Samuel Mills has reached the threshold and is elected. Sam’s surplus votes are transferred for the next round in accordance to the ballot’s next preferences.

Stage Two:

Count after transferring surplus votes from Samuel Mills. Noah Stride has reached the threshold and is elected. Noah’s surplus votes are transferred in the next round in accordance to the ballot’s next preferences.

Stage Three:

Count after transferring surplus votes from Noah Stride. Jeb Hedges has reached the threshold and is elected.

No further rounds are required. Election monitors have confirmed they are satisfied with the results and confirm no issues were raised to them formally during the election. Election monitors confirm any and all issues with the election (technical, permissions or otherwise) either did not occur or were solved within reason.

Congratulations to winners Samuel Mills, Noah Stride and Jeb Hedges and well done to all candidates for putting themselves forward - being a part of democracy and providing legitimate options to the electorate is a big part of what the Pirate Party UK stands for and it's great to see no walk-over elections and that all candidates recieved a good spread of the vote share

The burden now falls to those elected to ensure both those who voted for, and against them, are equally represented. Good luck!
