Pirate Party Leader and Manchester Central candidate Loz Kaye commented on the Manchester by-election that resulted in a 59.7% majority for Labour party candidate Lucy Powell after a vote that saw only 18.2% of voters turn out:

"The result of the Manchester by-election is the best parliamentary result for the Pirate Party UK with 1.9% of voters voting Pirate. This is a continuation of the positive trend in our election results, but still a disappointing one at the end of a hard fought campaign."

Pirate Party UK enters Oldham East and Saddleworth by-election
