A former mathematician and astrophysicist Will Tovey joined the Pirate Party shortly before it was registered in 2009. Since then he has worked for the policy team, established the Party's press office, spent 8 months as Chief Administrative Officer of Pirate Parties International (chairing the 2010 Conference), served as a Governor for 7 and a half years, and obtained a law degree. For some of 2016 he was Chair of the Party's Board of Governors. In 2016 he was appointed acting Treasurer, and elected to the role in November 2017.
These days he works behind the scenes as a legal and policy researcher and is responsible for some of the Party's lobbying work. When not trying to become a lawyer, mediating or teaching maths Will lurks on the Internet explaining the law to whoever will listen.
